The Second Glorious Mystery

by Fr. Francis Martin

You have not left us Jesus.
Because you have taken your body
into the heart of the divinity
you are closer to us than ever.
Your body fills the universe.

You have become
our food and drink,
our joy,
our confidence in life.

You intercede for us
at the right hand of the Father,
and you bring us close to him
by changing us into your image.

From now on
our citizenship is in heaven and
from there we await your return
to transform our poor earthen bodies
into the likeness of your own.

What a dignity you have given us, and
what love the Father has shown us!

We are called to be transformed,
body and spirit,
for all eternity
by the Trinitarian life itself.

By your holy Ascension
give us respect for our own bodies.

Let there be none hungry among us,
none without home.
Let us live in awesome respect
of one another’s bodies,
in chastity and with a vision
of what it means to be human.

Then we will hear you tell us one day:

“Enter into your Master’s joy!”
