The Third Glorious Mystery

by Fr. Francis Martin

The Kiss that binds the Father and the Son
is now among us and dwells within us.

O Blessed Holy Spirit,
Song sung by the Father and the Son
to each other,
come in a rush of wind
and tongues of fire
to undo the confusion of Babel
and allow us to understand each other
and to be one another.

You hovered over creation
and it came to be.

You hovered over escaping Israel
and made them a people.

You hovered over the Virgin
and the Word became flesh.

You hover over bread and wine
and they are full of fire;
Christ is in our midst.

You hover over the Church
and humanity becomes itself again.

The poetry of the Father’s plan,
uttered by the Son,
is now an eternal song
because of your breath.

Give us joy, Blessed Spirit,
pray in us that,
seeing the face of the Father
with whom there is not
the slightest disappointment,
our hearts may go beyond themselves
and cry out with Jesus,

Abba!
